Char Siu (Chinese Barbecue Pork)

Directions

  1. 1Start by stabbing your pork shoulder with a fork.
  2. 2Marinate the pork using sugar, dark soy sauce, and oyster sauce or store-bought Char Siu sauce.
  3. 3Massage the pork for a couple of minutes to ensure it's well coated by the sauce.
  4. 4Leave the pork overnight in the fridge so it gets really flavorful.
  5. 5Place the marinated Char Siu on the rack of your air fryer.
  6. 6Cook the Char Siu at 380 degrees for 10 minutes.
  7. 7Brush more sauce onto the Char Siu.
  8. 8Flip the Char Siu over and continue brushing with sauce.
  9. 9Cook the Char Siu again for another 10 minutes.
  10. 10Put some honey on the Char Siu.
  11. 11Give the Char Siu a final broil for 3 minutes.
  12. 12Pour the remaining marinade into a saucepan to create the extra sauce.
  13. 13Let the Char Siu rest for 2 minutes.
  14. 14Cut the Char Siu into thick slices.
  15. 15Drizzle the extra sauce over the sliced Char Siu.
