Naan

Directions

  1. 1Add 4 cups of all-purpose flour to a large bowl.
  2. 2Add 1 tablespoon of instant dry yeast.
  3. 3Add 2 teaspoons of kosher salt.
  4. 4Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
  5. 5Add 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
  6. 6Add 3/4 cup of plain yogurt or buttermilk.
  7. 7Add 1 cup of warm water.
  8. 8Mix all the ingredients to combine until a dough forms.
  9. 9Transfer the dough to a wooden board floured surface.
  10. 10Use a dough scraper to cut the dough into 8 pieces.
  11. 11Roll each piece into a small ball.
  12. 12Roll out each dough ball into an oval shape with a rolling pin.
  13. 13Cook the naan in a hot cast iron skillet until charred spots appear and it puffs up.
  14. 14Flip the naan and cook the other side until charred.
  15. 15Brush the cooked naan with melted butter and minced cilantro.

  • 0.75 cup plain yogurt or buttermilk
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tbsp minced cilantro

Tips

  • Drench that gluten-y goodness with melted butter.
