Place your oven rack into the bottom or second-to-bottom slot in your oven.
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place your roast onto the rack of a roasting pan.
In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
Stir the seasoning mixture together.
Lather this mixture all over your beef roast, ensuring to flip it and coat the sides and the bottom of the roast.
Roast this in our 325-degree oven for somewhere in the hour and 15 minutes to hour and 45 minute range.
Start checking the internal temperature at the hour mark.
You are looking for an internal temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you want to give it that nice reverse sear finish, you'll crank up the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit for that final 5 degrees until you reach 135.
Once it reaches its target internal temperature, pull it out of the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before carving.
