Homemade Eggnog

Directions

  1. 1Separate the egg yolks from the whites, discarding the whites or reserving them for another use.
  2. 2Whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture is lighter in color and airy.
  3. 3Combine the whole milk and heavy cream in a pot on the stove, then bring to a boil.
  4. 4Add the vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the pot.
  5. 5Remove the pot from the heat once it reaches a boil.
  6. 6Slowly incorporate the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks by whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
  7. 7Return the mixture to the pot and simmer on the stove.
  8. 8Pour the eggnog into a jar and refrigerate to cool.
