Misal Pav

Directions

  1. 1Roast two onions, a brinjal, and a sweet potato on a grill over a gas stove.
  2. 2Peel the roasted brinjal and slice it.
  3. 3Transfer the sliced brinjal to a blender.
  4. 4Peel and chop the roasted onions.
  5. 5Add the chopped onions to the blender.
  6. 6Add cumin seeds, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon stick, and black cardamom to a bowl.
  7. 7Peel garlic cloves and slice ginger.
  8. 8Add dried red chilies, peeled garlic, and sliced ginger to the bowl with spices.
  9. 9Mix all the ingredients in the bowl.
  10. 10Transfer the mixed spices and other ingredients to the blender.
  11. 11Blend all the ingredients into a paste.
  12. 12Boil potatoes in a pressure cooker.
  13. 13Peel the boiled potatoes.
  14. 14Mash the peeled potatoes in a bowl.
  15. 15Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and green chilies.
  16. 16Add chopped onions to the pan.
  17. 17Add salt and turmeric powder to the pan.
  18. 18Add the mashed potatoes to the pan and mix well.
  19. 19Add curry leaves to the potato mixture and mix.
  20. 20Boil sprouted moth beans in water with salt and turmeric powder.
  21. 21Drain the boiled sprouted moth beans.
  22. 22Chop an onion finely.
  23. 23Heat oil in a pan, add the chopped onion.
  24. 24Add red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder, and misal masala to the pan.
  25. 25Add the blended paste to the pan and mix.
  26. 26Add water to the pan and let it simmer.
  27. 27Pour some of the prepared curry into a separate bowl.
  28. 28Add chopped coriander to the curry.
  29. 29Serve the misal pav with a side of chopped onions, lemon, and pav.
  30. 30Add the potato mixture and sprouted moth beans to a plate.
  31. 31Top with Farsan.
  32. 32Pour the prepared misal curry over the Farsan and other ingredients.

  • 1 tablespoon Misal Masala
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 handful Farsan
  • 1 wedge Lemon
  • 1 piece Pav
