Apple Pie Nachos

Directions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with paper towels or a wire rack.
  2. 2Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apples, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and cook until apples begin to soften, stirring often. Remove from heat.
  3. 3In a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 360 to 375 degrees F (170 to 190 degrees C).
  4. 4Working in batches, carefully add a handful of wonton pieces to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot.
  5. 5Fry chips until light golden brown, stirring gently, for 15 to 30 seconds.
  6. 6Use a spider strainer or slotted spoon to remove the chips. Place them on the prepared baking sheet to drain excess oil.
  7. 7Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Toss chips in sugar and cinnamon until well coated. Transfer to a plate.
  8. 8Top chips with apple mixture and drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve immediately.
