Family Salad with Tortilla Strips

Directions

  1. 1Peel some garlic.
  2. 2Thinly chop romaine lettuce and add it to a big bowl.
  3. 3Thinly slice a red onion and add it to the bowl.
  4. 4Thinly slice some green onion and add it to the bowl.
  5. 5Chop up some tomatoes and add them to the bowl.
  6. 6Cut one avocado and add it to the bowl.
  7. 7Add some corn to the bowl.
  8. 8Add a little bit of chopped cilantro to the bowl.
  9. 9Chop up some pre-cooked chicken and add it on top of the salad.
  10. 10To make tortilla strips, warm up a skillet and add some oil.
  11. 11Once the oil is hot, add corn tortillas to the skillet.
  12. 12Once the tortillas are lightly golden, take them out.
  13. 13To make the dressing, start with a little bit of Mexican crema in a blender.
  14. 14Add an avocado and a quarter of a piece of jalapeno to the blender.
  15. 15Add garlic and a good handful of cilantro to the blender.
  16. 16Add a little bit of Cotija cheese, some lime, and a little bit of salt to the blender.
  17. 17Blend all the dressing ingredients together.
  18. 18Taste the dressing and add more salt if needed.
  19. 19Add a cup of mayo and a quarter cup of milk to the dressing to thin it out.
  20. 20Toss all the salad ingredients together in the big bowl.
  21. 21Add the dressing to the salad and toss everything together again.
  22. 22Add the tortilla strips all over the salad.
  23. 23Serve and eat.

Tips

  • If you don't like spicy, you can omit the jalapeno from the dressing.
  • If you don't like cilantro, you can use parsley in the dressing.
  • You can use any corn tortillas for the strips as long as they are corn.
  • Adjust salt to taste in the dressing.
