Place a Dutch oven over medium heat and add some olive oil.

Add the diced yellow onion, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the onions are tender.

Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the ground beef, a big pinch of salt, a big pinch of pepper, and a teaspoon of paprika. Break up the beef and brown it.

Make room in the middle of the pot and squeeze in a big amount of tomato paste. Cook it for a few minutes.

Bring all the ingredients in the pot together.

Add 3 cups of beef broth and 1 cup of heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a low boil.

Add 1 pound of pasta shells to the boiling mixture.

Mix in the pasta shells, lower the heat to a simmer, and cook until the pasta is tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.

Add 5 ounces of sharp cheddar cheese.

Taste the pasta and season with a big pinch of salt and a little bit of pepper if needed.

Plate the creamy beef pasta.
