Homemade Buttered Biscuits

Directions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix together 2 cups of self rising flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ cup of cold butter until it resembles cornmeal.
  2. 2Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in 1 cup of milk. Mix until the dough comes together, being careful not to overmix.
  3. 3Pour the dough onto a floured surface and press it out evenly. Then, fold the dough from each side,followed by folding the top and bottom.
  4. 4Pat the folded dough down into a rectangle about 1/2-inch thick.
  5. 5Use a 3-inch biscuit cutter to cut out your biscuits.
  6. 6Place the biscuits onto a buttered cast iron pan.
  7. 7Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. 8Serve hot with butter and strawberry jelly.
