Start with 125 grams of plain flour in a bowl and add one and a half teaspoons of baking powder and 10 grams of sugar, which is also two teaspoons.

Add 40 grams of melted butter, dairy or vegan, and mix that in.

Add 60 grams or four tablespoons of any milk.

Mix that in with a knife.

Tip the dough onto a well floured surface, pat it together and cut it in half.

Form each half into squares.

Put the scoffles in a preheated waffle maker and close the top but don't clamp it and cook them for three and a half minutes.

Tips
You can make them circular if you like, just make sure they're all about one and a half centimeters thick.
Leave them to cool until they're just a little bit warm then slap on the cream and jam or jam and cream.
