Biftekia (Greek Meat Patties)

Directions

  1. 1Place the red wine vinegar, garlic, onion, parsley, mint, oregano, salt, and pepper into a food processor and blitz until finely chopped.
  2. 2In a bowl, add the minced beef, the herb mixture, egg, and breadcrumbs, then use your hands to mix until well combined.
  3. 3Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each into a flat patty, approximately 1cm thick and 7cm wide.
  4. 4Heat a generous amount of olive oil and fry the patties in two batches for 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. 5Transfer the patties to a tray lined with paper towels to drain excess oil and squeeze fresh lemon juice over them before serving.

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 3 whole garlic clove, peeled
  • 1 whole red onion, peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, gluten free
  • for frying olive oil
  • 1/2 whole lemon juice

Tips

  • Alternatively, grate the garlic and onion and finely chop the herbs by hand if you do not have a food processor.
  • Serve with tzatziki and a fresh Greek salad.
