Homemade Natural Liquid Soap
Directions
- 1Weigh all fats by weight.
- 2Add oil-based fragrances if desired.
- 3In a separate container, combine glycerine and water.
- 4In another separate container, combine potassium hydroxide and water. ALWAYS add potassium hydroxide to water, not the other way around.
- 5Add the potassium hydroxide solution to the oils in the Instant Pot.
- 6Mix until a paste forms. This is called trace.
- 7Cook at 165-175°F for several hours, mixing every couple of hours.
- 8Check for clarity by mixing a small amount with hot distilled water; if cloudy, continue cooking.
- 9Remove half, store in a mason jar, and label.
- 10To the remaining half, add a gallon of water to reconstitute. Cook on low for a couple of hours or overnight for clarity.
- 11Dilute for hand soap use (1/3 to 1/2 strength).
