Directions

  1. 1Pour high proof grain alcohol, like Everclear, into a spray bottle.
  2. 2Add essential oils and shake to combine.
  3. 3Top off with distilled water.
  4. 4Label the bottle.
  5. 5Spray on to keep bugs away, especially on hats, ankles, backpacks, and shoes.

  • 15 drops Geranium Essential Oil
  • 15 drops Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  • 15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Basil Essential Oil

Tips

  • Rubbing alcohol is not a good choice as it is harmful to breathe in.
  • Geranium is known to repel ticks.
  • Lavender, Lemon Eucalyptus, and Basil repel other bugs like mosquitos and gnats.
  • This recipe is not kid-friendly; for a kid-friendly version, use 4 drops each of Lavender and Geranium in an 8-ounce recipe.
  • Always test patch skin first.
  • Spray on everywhere but especially hats, ankles, backpacks, and shoes.
