Directions
1
Cook baking soda mix until thick dough.
2
In a saucepan, combine baking soda, cornstarch, and water.
3
Stir well until the mixture is smooth.
4
Place the pan over medium heat and keep stirring until the mixture thickens into a soft dough-like paste.
5
Remove from heat and let it cool until safe to touch.
6
Separate the dough into 3–4 small portions.
7
Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion and gently knead the color in.
8
Take small pieces from the colored doughs and lightly twist them together.
9
Roll the mixture between your hands to form a small oval stone.
10
Press your thumb gently into the center of the oval to create a small thumb groove.
11
Smooth the edges with your fingers.
12
Place the stones on parchment paper and let them dry for 24–48 hours until fully hardened.
13
Brush a thin layer of clear glue or Mod Podge over the stones for a glossy look.
14
Let dry completely.
Ingredients
1 cup baking soda
0.5 cup cornstarch
0.75 cup water
Food coloring
Essential oils
clear glue/Mod Podge
Equipment
saucepan
parchment paper
Tips
Do not mix food coloring fully - leave streaks so the colors create a marbled swirl effect.
Flip stones halfway through drying so both sides dry evenly.
Brushing a thin layer of clear glue or Mod Podge makes stones smoother and shinier.
