Directions

  1. 1Add 2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin into a glass container.
  2. 2Add 4 tablespoons of cold water to the gelatin to bloom it.
  3. 3Mix the gelatin and water well and set it aside for 5 minutes.
  4. 4After 5 minutes, melt the gelatin. Be careful not to burn it.
  5. 5Add food coloring, preferably gel food coloring, and mix thoroughly.
  6. 6Optionally, add a tiny bit of luster for extra shine and mix.
  7. 7Quickly spread the mixture thinly onto a silicone mat.
  8. 8Set it aside for at least 6 hours, or overnight, to dry.
  9. 9Once completely set, flip it around so the bottom can dry (optional).
  10. 10Break the dried gelatin into pieces and place them into a blender.
  11. 11Blend the gelatin until it forms a fine glitter.

Tips

  • Try to stick to gel food coloring because oil-based can create specks.
  • The thinner you spread it, the more shiny it will be.
  • Store properly for 6 months to a year.
  • Make sure to blend it very well if you want your glitter to be super fine.
