Add a pound of ground beef to a hot pan and break it up. Brown it.
Once browned, drain. Add five minced garlic cloves and cook for a minute or two until fragrant.
Add a quarter cup of beef broth, one-third cup of brown sugar, and one-third cup of coco aminos.
Add three tablespoons of hoisin sauce, a quarter teaspoon of ginger, a pinch of black pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Stir until combined. If the sauce is watery, make a cornstarch slurry by whisking together two tablespoons of cold water and one tablespoon of cornstarch.
Pour the cornstarch slurry into the pan, stir in, and bring to a boil.
Prepare the chow mein noodles per package instructions.
Add the noodles to the pan and stir until coated.
