## Ingredients

- 2 rack baby back ribs
- 2 tbsp granulated onion
- 1 tbsp granulated garlic
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp cayenne
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp chicken base
- cooking oil spray (optional)
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- to taste barbecue sauce
- 1 cup water

## Instructions

1. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs by making a small slit with a paring knife and pulling it off, using a paper towel to help grip the membrane if needed.
2. Mix the granulated onion, granulated garlic, paprika, smoked paprika, dried oregano, cayenne, black pepper, and chicken base in a bowl to create the spice rub.
3. Apply the spice rub to the ribs, ensuring all sides are well-seasoned and the seasoning is packed into the meat.
4. Place each rack on a sheet of aluminum foil sprayed with cooking oil spray, pour apple juice over the ribs, and wrap them tightly, double-wrapping to seal.
5. Bake the ribs in the oven at 250 degrees for 3 to 4 hours.
6. Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest in the foil on the counter for 1 hour.
7. Unwrap the ribs, apply a generous layer of barbecue sauce to all sides, add a cup of water to the pan to prevent burning, and place under the broiler to char.

## Equipment

- paring knife
- mixing bowl
- whisk
- baking sheet
- aluminum foil

## Tips

- Use dry paper towels to help grip and remove the rib membrane more easily.
- The chicken base has a high sodium content, so there is no need to add extra salt to the spice rub.
- Resting the ribs in their foil wrap for an hour after cooking helps keep the meat juicy and tender.
- Don't be shy with the barbecue sauce application.
- Add water to the roasting pan before broiling to prevent the barbecue sauce drippings from burning in the pan.
