## Ingredients

- 4 cups flour
- 4.5 cups flour
- 2.25 teaspoons fast rising yeast
- 1 packet fast rising yeast
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 0.25 cup oil
- 1.5 cup warm water
- 0.25 cup baking soda
- egg wash
- sea salt
- melted butter

## Instructions

1. Combine 4 to 4.5 cups of bread flour, 2.25 teaspoons or one packet of fast rising yeast, 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar, and 1.5 teaspoons of salt in a bowl, ensuring all ingredients are spread throughout the flour.
2. Add 0.25 cup of oil and 1.5 cups of warm water to the dry ingredients.
3. Start stirring the mixture in the bowl.
4. Once the mixture looks somewhat combined, turn it out onto a clean surface.
5. Gather all the dough and begin kneading the dry flour into it, without adding more liquid.
6. After kneading, spray the bowl with oil, place the dough in it, and cover with plastic wrap.
7. Let the dough rise until it doubles in size, which should take about an hour.
8. Once the dough has proofed, turn it out onto a clean surface without punching it down for a fluffier pretzel.
9. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
10. Use a pizza cutter to cut a side off the dough, then roll it out into a long rope.
11. Form the pretzel shape by setting the middle of the rope down, crossing the ends, crossing them again, and sticking the ends down.
12. Pour some water into a shallow dish and sprinkle in 0.25 cup of baking soda.
13. Dip both sides of each pretzel into the baking soda solution.
14. Place the dipped pretzels on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
15. Brush all the pretzels with an egg wash.
16. Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse sea salt.
17. Bake the pretzels in the 450-degree oven for 10 minutes.
18. Optionally, brush the warm pretzels with melted butter before serving.
