## Ingredients

- 1.25 cups warm milk
- 2.25 teaspoons active yeast
- 0.25 cup regular sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- vanilla
- 4.25 cups bread flour
- powdered sugar
- milk
- salt
- jarred chocolate frosting

## Instructions

1. Add 1 and 1/4 cups of warm milk to a mixing bowl.
2. Add 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of active yeast to the bowl.
3. Add 1/4 cup of regular sugar to the bowl.
4. Once the mixture is nice and foamy, add in one stick (8 tablespoons) of melted and cooled butter.
5. Add two eggs to the mixture.
6. Whisk the mixture very well to break up the egg yolks.
7. Add one teaspoon of salt to the mixture.
8. Add a splash of vanilla to the mixture.
9. Add four and 1/4 cups of bread flour (535 grams), half at a time.
10. Set the bowl onto a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment and mix slowly until all is incorporated.
11. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the other half of the flour.
12. Mix until the dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
13. Add the dough into an oiled bowl and flip it so it's oiled on top as well.
14. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise on the counter for 1 to 2 hours.
15. Lightly sprinkle your surface with some flour.
16. Place the risen dough on the floured surface.
17. Pull and stretch the dough out to about a half inch thick.
18. Take a circle cookie cutter and press straight down to cut out the donuts, avoiding twisting.
19. Take a piping tip and cut the middle out of the donut.
20. Let the cut donuts sit and proof (rise) a little more before frying.
21. Set the edge of the donut into the hot oil and gently drop it in.
22. After about 20 seconds, flip the donuts.
23. Once golden brown, remove the donuts and place them onto a plate with a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
24. For the glaze, sift powdered sugar into a bowl.
25. Add a tiny splash of milk and some salt to the powdered sugar.
26. Whisk the glaze together until it's nice and smooth, achieving a consistency that drips off the whisk in a continuous string.
27. Drop the donut straight down into the glaze.
28. Flip the donut over and place it on a cooling rack over a tray.
29. For chocolate donuts, heat jarred chocolate frosting in the microwave for literally 10 seconds to make it runny.
30. Dip the donut straight down into the melted chocolate frosting.
31. Flip the donut over to coat both sides.
