## Ingredients

- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 150 g flour
- 140 g sugar
- 115 g butter
- 1 egg
- 60 ml milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100 g chocolate
- 30 g cocoa powder
- 110 g brown sugar
- 2 g salt

## Instructions

1. First, show the difference between baking soda and baking powder. Baking powder is not just a base like sodium bicarbonate is. It has an acid as well. It has cream of tartar which is an acid and a base which is sodium bicarbonate and it also has some cornstarch.
2. When a recipe calls for baking powder, it probably doesn't have other acidic ingredients in the recipe. This will activate on its own when you add water to it or moisture to it.
3. The double chocolate chip cookie recipe has baking soda in it because it has acidic ingredients like cocoa powder and brown sugar.
4. Brown sugar is also an acidic ingredient. This will also help your leavening agent, your baking soda to rise.
5. They come together along with the cocoa powder and you get your carbon dioxide whereas this one can activate itself just in the presence of moisture.
