## Ingredients

- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 0.25 cup hot water
- 6 tablespoons salted butter
- 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
- Mexican vanilla
- flaky sea salt

## Instructions

1. Add 1 cup of granulated white sugar to a pot and place it on medium-high heat.
2. Continuously stir the sugar until it melts down, clumps up, and then dissolves into a smooth, dark amber liquid. This should take about 7-8 minutes.
3. Once the sugar is completely smooth and amber in color, carefully add 1/4 cup of hot water. The sugar will seize up and steam, but continue stirring until it melts back down and becomes smooth again.
4. Add 6 tablespoons of salted butter to the caramel sauce.
5. Stir until the butter is fully melted and incorporated into the caramel.
6. Once the butter is melted, turn off the heat.
7. Add 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream and stir until well combined.
8. Add a little bit of Mexican vanilla to taste.
9. Add some flaky sea salt to taste and stir it in.
10. Pour the homemade caramel sauce into a clean mason jar.

- Constantly stir the sugar to ensure even melting and prevent clumping.
- Ensure the sugar is fully dissolved before adding hot water to avoid a lumpy texture.
- Be careful when adding hot water as it will seize up, but continue stirring until it melts back down.
