3. Pour the thickened custard into a parbaked pie crust.
4. Arrange additional whole pecans on top of the pie filling and bake in the oven.
5. Prepare a meringue by whipping egg whites and sugar together.
6. Pipe the meringue on top of the baked pie.
7. Brown the meringue using a blowtorch or by placing the pie back into the oven.
