# Steak & Ale Winter Stew

A rich and decadent beef stew made with steak, stout, and a touch of Stilton for depth of flavor.

## Ingredients

- 1.5 lb shoulder of beef
- 55 g stilton cheese (optional)
- 1 whole onion, diced
- 3 whole garlic clove, chopped
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 400 ml beef stock
- 300 ml stout
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 2-3 whole bay leaf (optional)
- to taste vegetable oil
- to taste salt (optional)

## Instructions

1. Heat oil in a large pan over high heat, add the beef, season with salt, and brown the meat on all sides.
2. Remove the browned beef from the pan and set aside in a bowl.
3. Add the diced onion to the same pan and cook until translucent.
4. Add the garlic and cook for one minute.
5. Stir in the plain flour and cook for one minute to remove the raw flavor.
6. Pour in the beef stock and stout, stirring well until thickened.
7. Add the tomato puree and Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine.
8. Return the beef and its juices to the pan and add the bay leaves, ensuring they are submerged.
9. Simmer on low heat until the beef is tender.
10. Remove the bay leaves from the stew.
11. Turn off the heat and stir in the Stilton cheese.
